Homemade Beer Cheese Dip

This Homemade Beer Cheese Dip is the perfect companion for your favorite game day snacks!

Hey, y'all! Welcome to the latest installment of Sunday's Snacks where I share with you a recipe perfect for enjoying during the big game! Throughout this series, I have shared with you some super yummy recipes such as Jalapeno Popper Dip, Bunless Burger Bites, Loaded Tater Tot Skewers and Chicken and Waffle Sliders.

When I am coming up with a football friendly recipe, it has to meet the following criteria:

  • It requires minimal prep time.

  • Finger-foods are a plus.

  • The recipe has to be delicious.

Simple enough, right? I mean, who wants to spend half of the game in the kitchen? Certainly not me! I'd rather be sitting in front of the big screen cheering on my Jaguars and Cowboys.

Football games in our household are a family affair. My brothers, sister-in-law, and all of our kids gather at my parent's house to watch the games on the big screen. It's a huge deal. Since there's a butt-ton of kids there, we make sure our football grub is kid-friendly. This Homemade Beer Cheese Dip is kid friendly- all of the alcohol will cook out in the heating process.

I love this recipe because you can make it is totally versatile. You can serve it with hard pretzels, soft pretzels, pizza bites, crackers, chips, meats, etc.

The key too cooking with beer is starting off with a beer you like.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup beer

1 1/2 tbsp flour

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1/4 tsp dry mustard

1/4 paprika

Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Heat beer in a small saucepan over medium-high heat until it bubbles.

  2. Stir in flour and cheese. Whisk until cheese has melted and is smooth.

  3. Whisk in the remaining ingredients. Remove from the heat.

  4. To thicken, add a bit more flour. For a thinner sauce, add small amounts of beer until it reaches your desired consistency.
