Easy to Make Apple Danishes

This incredibly simple recipe uses premade crescent dough as an ingenious shortcut for a scrumptious breakfast idea!

Hey, ya'll! I'm going to be honest with you- breakfast in our house is typically on the fly. We toss pre-made muffins at the twins before dropping them off at daycare, 5 eats breakfast at school and we typically just guzzle down coffee in the mornings.

I try to make up for it on the weekends by making breakfast- and most weeks my kids get decent breakfasts on Saturdays and Sundays. I make them festive cinnamon rolls (pumpkins for Halloween, Santa Hats or Christmas Trees for Christmas...you get the idea). Other mornings we indulge on Apple Fritter Casserole or our favorite- Sausage Biscuits and Gravy.

All of these recipes are super easy and require very little prep-which is perfect since I'm usually whipping them up while I'm half asleep. One morning I decided to switch things up a little bit and make homemade apple danishes. Sounds ambitious, right? It's actually super easy! I used a premade crescent dough as a base and canned apples, which helped this recipe come together in just minutes.

Ingredients:

1 tube crescent rolls (single sheet- not perforated)

1 20 oz can apple pie filling

2 tbsp butter, melted

3 tbsp cinnamon sugar mix (2 tbsp white sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon)

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

3-4 tsp milk

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet with nonstick spray; set aside.

2. Open the crescent dough. If you weren't able to find the single sheet, pinch the perforations together to seal them. Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into 8 rectangles.

3. Use a brush or a spoon to smear the melted butter all over the crescent rolls.

4. Sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.

5. Roll up from the long side. Pinch edges to seal. Loosely coil each piece of dough.

6. Use your fingers to make a pocket in the center of each coil to make room for the filling.

7. Place each coil on to the cookie sheet.

8. Open the can of pie filling. Use a knife to cut each of the apple slices into smaller chunks. Fill each coil with about 2-3 tbsp of apple pie filling.

9. Sprinkle the tops with any remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.

10. Bake at 350 for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.

11. Meanwhile, prepare the glaze in a small bowl by combining powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk. Stir the mixture until smooth.

12. Drizzle over each warm danish and serve immediately.
