These sticky, sweet, Popcorn Balls are so incredibly easy to make! Swap out the colors and they're the perfect sweet treat for any party, holiday or get together.
Hey, y'all! Recently, I hit the kitchen with 4 and 5 to create some sweet treats perfect for Halloween. Both of the kids love spending time in the kitchen so I knew they'd get a kick out of making Halloween treats.
Does anyone else have memories of eating sticky, sweet, Popcorn Balls when they were younger?? I have to be honest, I don't remember my mama ever making them, but growing up my best friend's mom made these treats for each holiday. She'd swap out the colors to make them festive- she'd have green popcorn balls with red candies for Christmas and pink popcorn balls with red candies for Valentine's Day. I used to love munch on these when I was younger.
I decided I was going to make a Halloween version of these treats with the kiddos.
Making these treats really couldn't be any easier. You'll start out by popping 2 bags of plain popcorn and removing all of the kernels. In a medium pot over medium heat, combine corn syrup, butter, water, powdered sugar, food coloring and of course, marshmallows. Stir the ingredients together and allow them to come to a boil before pouring them over the popcorn. Stir the popcorn to coat it in this gloriously sweet coating.
Once the popcorn cools a bit, sprinkle in some M&M's. Stir the mixture. Spray your hands with non-stick spray and shape the popcorn into 3 inch balls before they mixture cools completely.
Wrap the balls in plastic wrap to help keep them fresh.
