Homemade Pizza Pockets

These Homemade Pizza Pockets are such an easy recipe making them the perfect game day appetizer!

Hey, y'all! Welcome to the latest installment of Sunday's Snacks where I share with you a recipe perfect for enjoying during the big game! Throughout this series, I have shared with you some super yummy recipes such as Jalapeno Popper Dip, Bunless Burger Bites, Loaded Tater Tot Skewers and Chicken and Waffle Sliders.

When I am coming up with a football friendly recipe, it has to meet the following criteria:

  • It requires minimal prep time.

  • Finger-foods are a plus.

  • The recipe has to be delicious.

Simple enough, right? I mean, who wants to spend half of the game in the kitchen? Certainly not me! I'd rather be sitting in front of the big screen cheering on my Jaguars and Cowboys.

Football games in our household are a family affair. My brothers, sister-in-law, and all of our kids gather at my parent's house to watch the games on the big screen. It's a huge deal. Since there's a butt-ton of kids there, we make sure our football grub is kid-friendly. These Homemade Pizza Pockets can't be any more kid-friendly.

I love this recipe because you can make it as simple or as complex as you want it to be. You can simply stuff the pockets with pizza sauce and mozzarella or you can add in pepperoni, browned sausage, and other pizza toppings. Since I like to keep it quick and simple on game day, I stuck with just cheese and pepperoni.

Needless to say, these snacks were a total hit with our crew. We'll definitely be enjoying these again this football season.

ngredients:

1 tube crescent roll dough

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (more if desired)

Pepperoni

2 tbsp melted butter

Italian Seasoning

Salt

1 cup pizza sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray and set aside.

  2. Melt butter in a microwave. Set aside.

  3. Unroll your crescent dough. Tear away one of the pre-cut triangles.

  4. Add 1 pinch of cheese and one or two pieces of pepperoni. Fold the dough over the toppings as you would if you were making crescent rolls. Place on the prepared baking sheet.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all of the dough has been used.

  6. Brush each of the pizza pockets with butter. Add a pinch of Italian seasoning and salt to the top of each pizza pocket.

  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes.

  8. Serve with a side of pizza sauce.
