You won't believe how incredibly simple this 2 ingredient deliciously tangy queso recipe is!
Hey, y'all! Welcome to Saturday's Snacks where each week I share with you an appetizer that is perfect to munch on during the big game. It's no secret that I love queso. On my blog, I feature not one, not two but 4 absolutely incredible queso recipe. Believe it or not, my friends, today I'm coming at you with queso number 5! My other quesos have pretty rad names like Slammin' Queso, Cowboy Queso, Philly Cheesesteak Queso, and the classic Queso Blanco but this one's name is a little less flattering. This is a little recipe I like to call Ugly Queso.
Remember how your mom told you not to judge a book by it's cover? This is most definitely one of those instances where you should listen to your mama. While it's true that this dip is ugly, hideous even, but man is it delicious! What I love most about this dip is that it requires just 2 ingredients, cream cheese and salsa verde. It's also ridiculously easy to make.
I first fell in love with salsa verde on a weeklong trip to Costa Rica. I can't even begin to tell you how much salsa verde (and beer) we consumed that week! If you're not familiar with salsa verde, it is a tangy green salsa made from tomatillos, onion, garlic and chili peppers. It's a staple in kitchens all throughout Latin America. It tastes fantastic on eggs, enchiladas, and tacos.
To create this simple dip, place cream cheese and salsa verde in a bowl and toss it into the microwave for about 2 minutes 30 seconds, or until the cream cheese has melted. Be sure to give the dip a stir after each minute as cooking time will vary depending on your microwave.
Ingredients: 16 oz jar of salsa verde 8 oz cream cheese
Instructions:
1. Place salsa verde and cream cheese into a microwave safe, medium-sized bowl. Microwave for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, or until the cream cheese has melted. Be sure to give the dip a stir after each minute as cooking time will vary depending on your microwave.
