Barbecue Chicken Naan Pizza

This pizza takes about 15 minutes to come together so it's perfect for preparing during half-time or on a busy weeknight. It features sweet and juicy shredded chicken, melted cheese, tangy barbecue sauce, and vibrant red onions.

Hey, y'all! I am so excited that football is back. Every Sunday my family huddles around the big screen to watch the big game. The food is always incredible, the drinks are ever-flowing and the company is always great. Each football season, I host a series called Saturday's Snacks where I share with you one of our favorite appetizer recipes that is perfect for football.

What are some foods that you automatically think of when you hear the word football? I think of queso and tortilla chips, delicious Chili Cheese Dip, Easy and Cheesy Italian Bombs, nachos, and pizza- to name a few.

Today's recipe is a delicious Barbecue Chicken Naan Pizza inspired by my BBQ Pork Pizza. This pizza takes about 15 minutes to come together so it's perfect for preparing during half-time. It features sweet and juicy shredded chicken, melted cheese, tangy barbecue sauce, and vibrant red onions.

Recipe Short Cut

As a meal prepper, I always have a few containers of shredded chicken on hand in my freezer. With my Instant Pot Shredded Chicken recipe, I can cook up 5 pounds of chicken in less than 20 minutes. You could also easily substitute rotisserie chicken.

What is naan?

Naan is an Indian-style flatbread, similar to roti or flatbread. Traditionally it is made inside of an extremely hot tandoori clay oven however, you can also prepare it in a cast iron skillet. This little discs of yumminess are super airy, puffy, and make for an excellent pizza crust.

Although homemade naan is relatively easy to make, you can also buy it premade. Most major supermarkets carry it in the bakery.

For this delicious pizza, you can use any kind of cheese you have on hand. I've used mozzarella, smoky gouda, goat cheese, and even regular old cheddar.

Kitchen Essentials:

Ingredients:

2 large pieces of Naan bread, or 4 mini naan breads 1 cup of shredded barbecue chicken (you can use homemade, leftover rotisserie or store bought) 4 oz cheese (mozzarella, gouda, goat cheese, and cheddar are all great options) 1/4 medium onion, sliced thin 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. Place naan on a baking sheet, flat side up. Heat in the oven for 2 minutes.

3. Remove naan from the oven and flip over. Spread the toppings evenly over each of the naan. (my order is sauce, chicken, onions, cheese).

4. Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

5. Garnish with cilantro and serve immediately.
