Celebrate all things red, white, and blue with these fun, festive patriotic food ideas!
Hey, y'all! I am so excited that summertime is right around the bend. When the mercury rises, my family becomes barbecuing fools! One of my favorite things about summer is getting everyone together at my parent's house for a barbecue. My dad and my brothers hang out on the deck while the rest of us hang out in the kitchen whipping up delicious summer salads and side dishes.
I gotta tell you, I especially love Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day BBQs because there's a theme. Any day that I can chow down on red, white, and blue grub and rock an Abe Lincoln shirt is a stellar day in my book. Speaking of red, white, and blue foods, I thought it would be fun to share with you all some of my ultimate favorite patriotic dishes.
Let's start with one that's less conventional. While my No Mayo Broccoli Salad may not scream red, white, and blue, the colors are all totally there! The red onion and red skin on the apples, the white of the apple and dressing, and the blue of the blueberries help make this dish a super fun option for your patriotic barbecue. What I love most about this dish is that it's fresh, sweet and not loaded with mayo.
My Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries are always a hit. Plump, juicy and vibrant red strawberries combine with delicious cheesecake filling and fresh blueberries to form the most incredible patriotic dessert. I love that this dessert isn't super heavy and filling. This post shows you two different ways to present this awesome dish!
It's no secret that I'm a sucker for cheesecake. My Triple Berry Cheesecake Salad combines three kinds of berries, creamy cheesecake filling, and bits of pound cake. This stuff is amazing y'all, you seriously won't be able to stop eating it!
