Hippity Hop Mix is a fun holiday treat perfect for the whole family. It's sweet and crunchy and dangerously addictive!
Hey, y'all! I hope you're having a great weekend! Did you remember to spring forward today? Speaking of spring, I have an absolutely incredible Easter inspired snack mix to share with you today. These little bites of heaven are called Hippity Hop Mix and they are seriously addictive. Like dangerously addictive... to the point, you're probably going to want to make a double batch (although this recipe does make 18 servings!).
This yummy crunchy and sweet treat goes by many names. You may know it as Puppy Chow or you may call it Muddy Buddies.
If you couldn't tell, I love making holiday themed snack mixes. This recipe is actually where it all started! From here I went on to make Harvest Mix for the fall, Caramel Churro Chex Mix for the winter and St. Patty's Day Muddy Buddies. Each of them incorporates flavors or colors representing to the season, and they are all great in their own right- but this recipe is my ultimate favorite.
Whether you call it Easter Puppy Chow, or Easter Muddy Buddies or call it by my name- Hippity Hop Mix- just know that this stuff is freaking delicious! It's the perfect combination of vanilla infused white chocolate, peanut butter, and crunch! You'll start by melting white chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter together in a large bowl. (Oh, yes I did!). Then, you'll add the cereal and stir it until it is well coated. Next, toss some powdered sugar into a bag, add the cereal mixture and give it a good shake. Lastly, you'll pour the mixture out onto some wax paper to allow it to cool before adding super cute chocolate Easter eggs.
Y'all! I'm telling you! You won't be able to put this stuff down! Seriously! You may want to do yourself a favor and put some of this Hippity Hop Mix in my DIY Bunny Bags and gift it to your friends to save your waistline. You'll be their new favorite person!
Ingredients:
9 Cups Chex Mix (You can use rice, wheat or corn or a combination of all 3) 1 cup white chocolate chips 1/4 cup butter 1/2 cup peanut butter 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar Mini Chocolate Easter Eggs
Instructions:
1. Place cereal in an extra-large bowl; set aside.
2. In a medium-size bowl, microwave white chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter on high for 1 minute. Stir. Microwave for another 30 seconds or until the mixture can be stirred smooth.
3. Stir in vanilla.
4. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring with a rubber spatula until evenly coated.
5. Add half the powdered sugar into a 2-gallon resealable bag. Pour the cereal mixture into the bag and then add remaining powdered sugar. Seal the bag and shake it until the cereal is well coated.
Tip: If you don't have a 2-gallon bag handy, you can also use a gallon-size bag. You'll just have to use 1/2 the cereal and 1/4 of the powdered sugar, and then a 1/4 of the sugar again. You'll then empty the bag and repeat the steps with the remaining cereal and sugar.
6. Spread on waxed paper to cool.
7. Once cooled, add in candies and store in an airtight container in your fridge.
That's it! It's seriously that simple! And OMG is it good!
