Apples and Dulce de Leche come together with a Cheesecake Filling to create the perfect dessert for fall!
Hey, y'all! Welcome to a special dessert edition of Saturday's Snacks! Each Saturday I share a recipe that is perfect for the big game. So far I've shared Loaded Baked Potato Dip, Jalapeno Popper Dip, Loaded Tater Tot Skewers and Chicken & Waffle Sliders.
Today I'll be sharing a delicious dessert dip perfect for fall! Those of you who frequent the page know that I am a sucker for dessert dips. Believe it or not, I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I can tear up dessert dips like Strawberry Cheesecake Dip, Easy as (Key Lime) Pie Dip, and Birthday Cake Dip.
For those that are not familiar with dulce de leche, it is an Argentinian treat similar to caramel. While caramel hardens when it cools, dulce de leche maintains it's creamy, smooth consistency. Caramel is made by cooking sugar until it browns whereas dulce de leche is made my carmelizing sweetened milk.
Dulce de leche can usually be found in your Hispanic or International Food section of your grocery store. However, it is super easy to make at home as well! In fact, I whipped up a batch last weekend for this recipe. Since this recipe only uses 4 tbsp, we'll have plenty of dulce de leche to pack in our lunches to enjoy with apples!
This dip begins with a simple, creamy cheesecake inspired base. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, and confectionery sugar. Stir in two tablespoons of dulce de leche. Next, top the cheesecake filling with chopped pecans and drizzle dulce de leche on top. I served mine with apples ('tis the season!) but you can also serve it with cookies.
Doesn't this dip look absolutely incredible? I love the way the pecans and dulce de leche give a salty/sweet, bitter/sweet, crunchy/smooth vibe to the dish. Seriously, the picture makes me want to just lick the bowl clean!
