Hello, friends! Today I'm going to share with you one of my family's favorite dips: Warm Chili Cheese Dip. The dip itself couldn't be any easier to make. However, depending on how you prepare the dip you could end up with two totally different flavors.
Ingredients:
1 8oz block of cream cheese, room temperature & cubed
1 block of pepper jack cheese, cubed
1 can of chili (with or without beans)
3 green onions, sliced
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Add chili to the bottom of an 8x8 pan.
Place the cubes of pepper jack cheese and cream cheese on top of the chill. Ensure you spread the ingredients out.
Now what you do next is completely up to you. If you leave the dip as is, it will come out looking something like this (after you garnish it with green onions).
I will admit that this is the prettier option. Keeping the layer of chili on the bottom and smothering it with cheese is definitely more aesthetically pleasing. If you prepare your dish like this, it will have a more chili-like taste to it with a thick layer of cheese on top.
However... if you mix the cream cheese, cheese and chili mixture up before you bake it, it will taste better. It is amazing how different the dip tastes simply by switching the composition of it.
It looks, and tastes, like a completely different dip when you mix it up. My sister-in-law was convinced that it was a totally different dip when I served it to her in layers. There is something about mixing the ingredients that makes the dip smoother and creamier.
So... I dare you to fight the urge to make the prettier dip and mix it up. You won't be disappointed!
