This incredible dip is loaded with impeccable flavors!  The Swiss Gruyere cheese pairs perfectly with sweet, caramelized onions, and salty bacon.

Good morning friends! Today I wanted to share with you one of my new favorite dips: Hot Caramelized Onion Dip with Bacon and Gruyere. I had you at bacon, didn't I? This dip is great for sitting on the couch and watching football but it's even more perfect for a party or a get-together. I mean, who doesn't love bacon, caramelized onions, and gooey cheese?

Ingredients:

4 strips of bacon

1 large sweet onion, sliced thin

1/2 teaspoon of sugar

1/4 teaspoon of sea salt

1/2 teaspoon of Texas Pete hot sauce

1/2 teaspoon of thyme

1 cup of shredded Swiss Gruyere cheese

1/2 cup of sour cream

1/2 cup of mayo (not pictured)

1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees

2. Cook bacon in a large nonstick skillet. Once cooked, place the bacon on a paper towel-lined plate to cool. Crumble.

3. Add onions, sugar, and salt to the bacon fat in the skillet. Cook over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring often, until onions turn a deep brown. This may take between 15-20 minutes.

4. Stir in thyme and Tabasco. Remove from heat.

5. In a medium-size bowl, mix together sour cream and mayo. Add crumbled bacon, cheese, onion mixture and black pepper. Mix together and transfer to a baking dish. If you want your dip to be extra golden brown, bake it in your skillet.

6. Bake for 20 minutes or until bubbly.

Serve with: Baguette, bagel chips or apple slices. Leftovers would be amazing on top of a steak, a burger or a baked potato.
