4 Top UK Camping Destinations

So you’ve decided to take a camping trip with your friends or family and are wondering which destination? It can be a bit of a tricky decision with so many beautiful places to choose from. For a little inspiration, these four have got everything on your camping wish-list covered.

Devon

Devon is home to the stunning Dartmoor National Park, a gorgeous stretch of countryside that spans over 368 square miles. Here you’ll find beautiful forests and streams, standing stones, Dartmoor ponies, and quaint villages. Nearby there are plenty of perfect spots for camping.

While staying in Devon, you might like to take a trip to Deer Park at Dartington Hall. Explore the lush landscapes and spot creatures such as deer, otters, and kingfishers, plus some of the most beautiful old oak trees you’ve ever seen! Those who are a fan of caves won’t want to miss exploring the prehistoric caves of Torquay, an enchanting labyrinth for your cameras, so why not take the guided tour?

Peak District

The Peak District has long been praised as one of the most beautiful places in the UK. Here you’ll find picturesque landscapes, moorlands, historic houses, limestone dales, and charming towns. The National Park is a glorious sight to see, with amazing views of the moors, and plenty of rivers and caverns to explore. For a truly authentic and special outdoor experience, camping in the Peak District is undoubtedly the way to go.

Wales

Lovers of the outdoors simply must visit Wales at least once in their life! If you like hiking, you’ve certainly met your match with Snowdon- the tallest mountain in the UK. Those who don’t fancy the trek can simply hop on the train, and meet their friends at the top to soak up those spectacular views. Snowdonia National Park is the perfect place for hikes, relaxation, and leisure, and there are camping parks close by so that you can stay right in the heart of the action.

Isle of Eigg

The Isle of Eigg is a spectacular Hebridean Island just off the Scottish West coast. Here you’ll find a lovely community, plenty of wildlife and a rich history to discover. Eigg is the most eco-friendly island in the UK, (only about 100 people actually live here)! For this reason, you’re bound to have a relaxing and peaceful camping trip here. When you’ve had enough of exploring the outdoors, head to a museum, or check out the microbrewery if you’re a beer fan. Those looking for a truly restful break should definitely put this one on their traveling bucket list.

Get planning

When you’re taking a camping trip, you’ll want to start planning well in advance. You’ll need to get all the equipment needed to keep yourself comfortable and safe. If you’re checking into a campsite you won’t need as much, yet if you’re pitching up by yourself, be sure to have a detailed checklist. Coach hire is the best way to get you and your group to your camping destination. This way, you’ll have plenty of space and won’t have to drag all your stuff on the train!
