Hey, y'all! Do you kids love to color? Of course, they do! Most of us have a plethora of crayons just laying around the house- all broken and well-used. This is a fun project to do with all of those crayons that have been traded in for newer, sharper versions of themselves.
Okay...I just realized that it sounds like I'm about to write a post on relationship advice lol I promise that I'm not going through anything at the moment.
This heart shaped crayons are the perfect project for repurposing those old crayons. It can be done at any time of year by simply switching out the mold that you use. It's super easy to do with your little ones and isn't hard on the budget.
You can find these silicone molds at Walmart, Target, Michael's, Joann's, Hobby Lobby and Amazon. They are really easy to work with if you haven't used them before.
These would be a great sugar-free allergy-free treat to attach to your child's Valentine's Day cards!
Instructions:
1. Unwrap all of your crayons, making sure to get all of the paper off. If you have time, the easiest way to do this is the allow the crayons to soak in a soapy water bath. This will practically peel the wrappers off for you. Allow the crayons to dry completely before you use them.
2. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
3. Break the larger crayons into smaller pieces. The smaller the pieces are, the quicker they will melt. Sort them by color if you want to make solid color crayons.
4. Place the crayons into the mold filling it 1/2 to 3/4 full, depending on how big you want your crayons.
5. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes.
6. Allow the crayons to cool completely before removing them from the mold. If you don't, they might break.
