Hey, y'all! It's no secret, I'm a huge wine lover. My mom made this super cute cork holder for me a couple of years ago. Isn't it totally adorable? This weekend I decided to put these corks to good use and turn them into another one of my favorite things...a pumpkin!
I began by pulling out 25 corks. I bet you can't tell what our favorite local winery is... can you?
Next, I poured myself a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and arranged the corks into two groups of 4, two groups of 5, and one group of 6.
I wanted the stained side of the cork to be facing outward to give the pumpkin a little variation in colors.
I used a hot glue gun to begin assembling the pumpkin. The glued 4 corks together to form the base. As you can see in the picture below, I flipped the base upside down to add extra glue to the bottom.
From here, I simply glued the corks in staggered rows on top of one another. I love, love, love the look of the color variations. It meshes well with my burlap and neutral colored pumpkins I have out this year. Of course, if you like a more traditional look, you could always paint your corks orange.
I know what you're thinking... that's only 24 corks! I found this itty bitty short, squatty cork in my collection so I decided to use it as a stem.
I added a little jute ribbon to mimic a vine and adhered the cork stem to the top.
Ignore the bad lighting, but here you can see the cork pumpkin in it's new home- right above my little wine bar.
