Hello friends! Welcome to Part 3 of my 3 Part series on Hosting the PERFECT Super Bowl Party. So far we've covered decorations and food. Today I'll be discussing drinks. I know what you're thinking, "I'm just going to buy some beer and throw it in my inflatable cooler."
While yes, beer is a Super Bowl Party staple, I challenge you to think outside of the box... or in this case, the case of beer. Instead of just buying 12 packs of Bud Light, Coors and PBR, why not offer a bit more of a selection? Some of my favorites are La Fin du Monde by Unibroue, Warlock by Southern Tier Brewing Co, Sam Adams and Fat Tire.
Believe it or not, there are people in this world who don't care for beer. Yes, it's weird to me too but it's a real thing. Although these people should probably be treated like lepers, it's important to include them as well.
The trendiest drink right now is the Moscow Mule. People have come up with some seriously creative ways to serve this drink. The traditional recipe is:
2 oz. vodka 5 oz ginger beer 1/2 oz lime juice Garnish with lime & mint
Mules should always be served in a copper mug. It's in the Mule Rule Book. You can purchase a set of mugs off of Amazon for a really reasonable price. Check out this list of the 11 Best Moscow Mule Recipes for more inspiration. Serve a mule and you'll be the coolest kid at the party.
Another super simple drink to have on hand is a margarita. I mean, who doesn't love a good margarita? Much like the Mules, you can make them ahead and forget about them.
Our favorite recipe is actually a spicy margarita with pineapple and jalapeno:
1 jalapeno slice (muddled)
1 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp chili powder
2 tbsp kosher salt
3/4 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup patron silver tequila
1/8 cup triple sec
For this recipe, simply mix your wet ingredients. Muddle the jalapeno and add it to your beverage. Combine the kosher salt and chili powder in a small bowl. Use to rim your glass.
