Hey, y'all! A very happy Travel Tuesday to you all! Today we're going to chat about interior cabins on cruise ships. One of the first decisions you'll need to make when booking a cruise is determining what kind of cabin you want to have. You can select from an interior cabin, an ocean view cabin, a balcony or one of the many suite options.
Back in January, we boarded the Carnival Elation for a 5-day cruise to The Bahamas. We visited Half Moon Cay and Nassau and had a blast spending a few carefree days in the sun.
We booked stateroom R146- a Category 4B Interior Stateroom. The stateroom itself is average in size, approximate 186 square feet. We picked it because it was conveniently located next to the elevator bank, which makes it easy to access the ship's amenities.

This is the view of the entrance. When you enter the room, on the right hand side you'll find open shelving where the safe is located. Next it it are several closets (with shelves and hanging bars) for your clothing.
Pro-Tip: You can ask your cabin steward for more hangers.
If you click on the images above, you'll notice the small hooks on the wall. The walls of your cabin are magnetic. These heavy duty magnetic hooks are great for storing your sail and sign card, hats, and bathing suits. Compared to most other cabins I've stayed in, this cabin has very limited storage space so these hooks were a life saver!
The bathroom is on the opposite side of the hallway. Click the photos above to get an up close look at this space. It's on the small side but serves its purpose.
Pro Tip: The Shower has a cord that you can extend from one side of the shower to the other. This is a fantastic place to keep your wet bathing suits!
This type of stateroom has two beds that convert to a queen-sized bed. It comfortably sleeps two people. Some similar cabins have a bunk bed that allows for more passengers.
Pro Tip: If you're claustrophobic, try turning on the TV. There is a channel that shows you the forward camera, the aft camera, and deck cams. These will help you out tremendously. These are also a great way to see how the weather is outside without leaving your cabin!
Overall this was a great, cozy cabin. It lacked the typical storage space that I've had in other rooms but we were able to make it work. It's the perfect cabin for 2 people but wouldn't be ideal for a larger party. The location was absolutely perfect. It was a quick walk or elevator ride to hot spots like the Lido Deck, the Main Dining Room, the ships stores, theater, etc.
